Tesco have announced that they’re supplying drivers with body cameras, what are your opinions on this?
If you’re a driver, have you ever thought you’d need to wear one?
Knowing my luck if I wore one I’d accidentally press it.
Tesco:
Did you know that we're the first retailer to roll out body worn cameras (BWCs) for our home delivery drivers?
Earlier this year, and following a successful pilot in Hull, we rolled out BWCs to a further 25 Dotcom sites, including CFCs and UFCs across the UK.
We're now stepping up our roll out and have confirmed that BWC's will be in 100 sites by the end of this year, with the roll out continuing to more sites in 2026.
This initiative is part of our broader commitment to improving safety in our stores and centres.
FAQ
How do I report a faulty camera?
Broken or faulty cameras need to be reported through Verisae.
If a camera is lost or stolen, this must be logged via the privacy portal. Once logged on the privacy portal, it can be reported through Verisae using the incident number generated.
How do I report a security incident?
You can either report the incident via your phone.
Which sites will receive them?
As Kirsty explains, the sites have been chosen based on security incident reporting data, so we will use this to inform which sites we roll BWCs out to next. We will alert managers ahead of receiving them.
Have you alerted our home delivery customers on the introduction of BWCs?
Yes, customers at all our sites have been made aware of the introduction. Please note that the cameras don’t record unless activated.
